SkyMiles Medallion Status Match Challenge

If you're a top-tier flyer with another airline, you can request to participate in our one-time SkyMiles Medallion® Status Match Challenge between July 5, 2011 and June 30, 2013, and qualify for comparable status with the Medallion program.

As a Medallion member, you'll enjoy exclusive privileges such as Unlimited Complimentary Upgrades for paid tickets, access to Preferred Seats, and waived baggage fees.

Step 1 | Program Details

If you meet the criteria to participate, you will receive Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion status for 90 days, based on your current elite level with another airline. The 90-day period will start when a member's request has been processed.

If you registered for the offer prior to June 30, 2012 and you complete the flight requirements, your Medallion status will be maintained until February 28, 2013.

If you register for the offer between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013 and you complete the flight requirements, your Medallion status will be maintained until February 28, 2014.

In order to extend your Medallion status after the 90-days, you'll need to earn a specific number of Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) within the 90-days of enrolling by flying Delta or Delta Connection®. The number of MQMs or MQSs required is based on your matched Medallion level.

First, confirm your comparable status with the SkyMiles program:
Delta SkyMiles Medallion Status Silver Gold Platinum
American AAdvantage Status Gold Platinum Executive Platinum
United Mileage Plus Status Premier Silver Premier Gold Premier Platinum/Platinum 1K
Then, determine the MQMs or MQSs needed to retain status:
Delta SkyMiles Medallion Status Silver Gold Platinum
Flight Requirements on Delta or Delta Connection 8,000 MQMs or 10 MQSs 16,000 MQMs or 20 MQSs 26,000 MQMs or 35 MQSs

Customers who enroll in the Challenge and meet the flight requirement within a 90-day period from enrollment will retain their matched Medallion status through February 28, 2014 (2013 if you registered prior to July 1, 2012), unless a higher Medallion level is earned by reaching published Medallion qualification thresholds. Medallion status must be earned in subsequent years by traveling the required amount of MQMs or MQSs.

Criteria for participation:

  • Member has not received a status match or complimentary Medallion status in the past
  • Is currently a non-Medallion member
  • Must present valid and current elite credential or statement showing elite status from another airline

Please Note:

  • A Medallion membership card will be not issued for the 90-day qualification period. You may enjoy Medallion benefits on Delta or Delta Connection by logging in at delta.com or providing your SkyMiles number when making reservations or at check-in. During the 90-day period, you will not have access to all reciprocal Medallion benefits with Delta's partner airlines, including access to SkyTeam® lounges.
  • Members who are matched to Platinum Medallion status will not be eligible for Choice Benefits until the flight requirement to maintain Platinum Medallion status is met. If the member does not meet the flight requirement, the member will not be eligible for Choice Benefits.
  • Through this offer, you may maintain the same or lower Medallion status level as your matched status. If you are matched to Silver Medallion status, you will not be able to earn Gold Medallion status through this offer, even if you will fly more than 16,000 MQMs or 20 MQSs during the offer period. But if you have been matched to Gold Medallion status and you only fly 8,000 MQMs or 10 MQSs, you will earn Silver Medallion status. Your Medallion status will be returned to non-Medallion status if you are unable to complete the minimum flight requirement within the 90-day period.
  • Medallion status match is only offered for Delta Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion levels.

For registration up to June 30, 2012 - Earned 2011 and 2012 Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion:

Members who earn Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion status through this promotion will be updated in the system within five business days of completion of required Delta or Delta Connection Medallion Qualification Miles or Medallion Qualification Segments to receive Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion benefits for 2011 and 2012 program years. A membership card will arrive within four to six weeks thereafter. For members who enroll and qualify for this promotion on or after July 5, 2011, benefits are valid through February 28, 2013. Medallion status must be earned in subsequent years by traveling the required Medallion Qualification Miles or Medallion Qualification Segments. Members who are eligible and complete the Status Match Challenge are ineligible for rollover MQMs unless they earn more MQMs than the gifted status requirement. For example, if a member is gifted Silver Medallion status in 2011 and also earns 30,000 MQMs in 2011, s/he will be able to roll over 5,000 MQMs since the Silver Medallion requirement is 25,000 MQMs.

For registrations on/after July 1, 2012 - Earned 2012 and 2013 Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion:
