New Atlanta Terminal Ceremony

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport celebrated a construction milestone on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, for the new Maynard H. Jackson, Jr. International Terminal as the final piece of structural steel was put in place.

Delta Cargo v.p. Neel Shah and General Manager for Marketing, Customer Service, and eCommerce Dave Paule joined Delta Air Lines’ CEO Richard Anderson, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Airport Aviation General Manager Ben DeCosta and others for the “topping off” ceremony for the new 1.2 million square-foot terminal.

Signatures of Delta, City of Atlanta, and Airport leaders and others were included on the beam that was raised into place Tuesday afternoon.

The terminal is expected to be completed in 2012 and Georgia Economic Development Commissioner Ken Stewart noted that the partnership between the world’s largest airport and the world’s largest airline puts 80% of the U.S. population within two hours of Atlanta.
