GENERAL INFORMATION

This service is for Atlanta inbound and outbound international perishable cargo ONLY.

All international perishables transiting the Atlanta station will be able to utilize our new cooler facility. (PDF)

We have four coolers that Range from 33oF to 55oF

  • Cooler #2        38oF/3oC
  • Cooler #3        45oF/7oC
  • Cooler #4        59oF/13oC

RESTRICTIONS

Currently Delta Cargo is unable to accommodate storage of frozen items, all products requiring quick-chill treatment, and fumigation.

Shipments should not be kept in the coolers more than 24 hours unless for extensive customs hold or extenuating circumstances.

Wet ice is prohibited.

BOOKING

For booking using specific commodities refer to:

DROP OFF/PICK UP

You need to take your shipment to your local cargo facility for shipping and pick it up at the local cargo facility at the destination.

For shipments terminating in Atlanta you will pick up the shipment at the International Cargo facility located at 1600 Aviation Blvd, Building B, Atlanta, GA 30354.  Additional fees will apply if you choose to pick up your shipment at any location other than the Delta Cargo facility.

SPECIAL HANDLING

Shipper is responsible for packing to withstand a total transit time of at least 72 hours internationally, out of refrigeration.

Transit time begins at normal tender time at the originating city and ends at the time of consignee notification of the shipments arrival.

Frozen items being held by Fish and Wildlife will be handled by the Atlanta Perishables Center

DOCUMENTATION

A typed International (PDF) AWB must accompany each shipment.

Shipments should be clearly labeled as Perishable. 
Each piece of the shipment must be legibly and durably marked with the name and address of the shipper and consignee.  Old labels and markings must be removed or obliterated.

REGULATIONS

Dry Ice transforms into CO2 and can displace oxygen in enclosed places; it is classified as "dangerous goods" (PDF); for air transport and is subject to separate government regulations.  You are responsible for compliance with those regulations.

SHIPPING TIPS:

  • Use the right amount coolant for the transit time.
  • Place coolants on the bottom and top.
  • Meet all government regulations.  These vary from state to state, and they are your responsibility.
  • Use appropriate container for shipment
  • Minimize the time between packing and shipment.
  • Need to provide a 24 hour contact.
  • Include any special handling requirements (set temperature).

PACKAGING:

  • Use all appropriate labels.
  • Packing to withstand a total transit time of at least 72 hours.
  • Resistance to external puncture is critical.
  • Bands must not cut containers.
  • If needed, Envirotainers are the only Delta approved active cooling container (RAP/RKN t1, t2 models).
  • Forwarders must lease from Envirotainer.
