EXCEPTIONS:     Delta reserves the right to refuse live animals as cargo if the animal's health is in question or may be jeopardized by extreme conditions. Pets are accepted to/from Anchorage, Alaska when temperatures are forecast below 20 degrees Fahrenheit

  Delta Connection Carrier:   Connection Carriers have different capabilities and policies concerning pets. Prior arrangements are necessary with all carriers involved. If pet has to transfer from a Delta flight to a Connection Carrier, the Delta flight needs to be booked at least 48 hours before the connection carrier's flight departure to ensure enough time is given to make transfer arrangements.
       
  Live Animals:   Warm blooded mammals and birds considered to be personal pets or show/exhibition animals accepted. Primates no permitted
       
RATES:     Per pound (weight of pet plus kennel multiplied by per pound rate for shipping zone)( Dimensional Weight or Actual Weight which ever is larger)
       
GUARANTEES / REFUNDS:     Unknown
       
PACKAGING:     Shipments must be packed so as to insure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling and so as not to injure or damage any persons or property. See kennel limitations/requirements. It is the responsibility of the shipper to obtain all necessary documents, including health and vaccination
certificates, import, export and transit permits, and other required documents prior to tendering the shipment
to Delta.
       
UNCLAIMED SHIPMENTS:     If unable to contact consignee or fails to claim within 4 hours after arrival or before closing time, which ever comes first, the animal will be transferred to a kennel or veterinary clinic for appropriate care. If unable to contact consignee after 24 hours or consignee fails to claim within 48 hour after arrival, shipper will be notified and animal will be returned to shipper. Shipper shall be responsible for all charges incurred by Delta Air Lines

Kennel Limitations

  • Between 8 weeks and 6 months of age - Maximum of 2 dogs or 2 cats of comparable size and less than 20lb (9kg) each may be transported in the same container, or no more than one puppy weighing over 20lb (9kg) per container.

  • Four months or less may not travel with an adult dog other than the mother.

  • 6 months of age or older - Maximum of 1 dog or 1 cat per container.

  • A female dog or cat in heat (estrus) may not be transported in the same container with a male dog or cat.

  • Age Requirements (other animals) - All other animals tendered to Delta for transportation must be fully weaned and self-feeding and be of sufficient strength and age to safely endure the environmental conditions they will be subject to under normal handling. Safety is our primary consideration. Refuse the shipment if there is any doubt on whether or not the animal is old enough to travel safely.
