Variation

General Information

Variation is a highly specialized service for international shipments that require special care. It offers a wide range of shipping options and ensures specific requirements are met for smooth transit:

Drop-off/Pick-up

You need to take your shipment to the local cargo facility for shipping and pick it up at the local cargo facility at the destination.

Shipments must be accepted at least 180 minutes prior to the confirmed flight departure.

Restrictions

  • All Variation shipments must be pre-booked.
  • The maximum weight is based on aircraft limitations.
  • The maximum liability is $1,250.00 USD per piece or the value declared, whichever is less.
  • Individual carrier restrictions (i.e. size, weight, specific commodities, cities served, etc) shall apply when transportation is routed on Delta’s Connection Carriers.

Booking

All Variation shipments are required to be pre-booked. You can book your shipment here at deltacargo.com, or by calling the Cargo Call Center at 1-800-DLCARGO (800.352.2746).

Special Handling

Each Variation shipments will be given the special handling required for that particular shipment.

This can range from special attention to ventilation, temperature control, protection from elements during ramp transportation, permanent supervision, or delivery within 3 hours after clearance from custom.

Documentation

  • Each piece of the shipment must be legibly and durably marked with the name and address of the shipper and consignee. Old labels and markings must be removed or obliterated.
  • Use the type International Air Waybill.
  • Include any special handling instructions as needed or required.

Regulations

All international shipments will follow IATA Rules for shipping.

Shipping Tips:

  1. Make sure your shipment is accepted at least 180 minutes prior to flight departure.
  2. Make sure shipment is properly packaged.
  3. Make sure all documents are complete.

Packaging

Shipments must be packed to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling and prevent injury or damage to any person or property.
