On April 1, 2009, Delta Cargo introduced harmonized core U.S.-based products DASH, DASH Heavy, and Standard; and we harmonized our policies for the international SkyTeam Cargo products Equation, Equation Heavy, Cohesion, Variation, and Dimension. We are pleased to announce Delta Cargo and NWA Cargo specialty cargo product handling will be aligned. We have harmonized the processes for live animal, human remains, perishables (including pharmaceuticals), and valuables handling.
Animal Transport: In addition to the existing Delta live animal product, we will now be offering a DASH option for live animal shipping. DASH will offer faster connections and shorter tender and recovery times. Find details on live animal shipping here.
Human Remains: Delta Cares policies and procedures will remain in effect for human remains shipping. What is new for our Delta Cares product will be the addition of the "Fallen Soldier Program." This program provides special handling procedures that recognize men and women of the armed forces who sacrifice their lives defending our country.
Delta Cargo is taking the best characteristics of both carriers to establish the "best in class" products and rates. We have aligned all product rates, including those for animal shipments, human remains shipments and closely monitored shipments like vaccines and pharmaceuticals. Please note, the dangerous goods policies for each carrier will continue to exist until Delta receives a Single Operating Certificate, expected by the end of 2009. In the meantime, simplified dry ice limits for each carrier have been established.
