Tim Strauss

Tim Strauss, Managing Director-Global Cargo Operations, has over 23 years of management experience in the Air Cargo and Logistics industries.

He most recently served as the Vice President of Operations for Northwest Cargo where he was responsible for the movement of freight in the passenger and freighter fleets. Prior to this tenure at Northwest, he worked in the express logistics business as the Vice President of Operations for Emery Worldwide.

During his career with Emery and Northwest, Tim led global cargo operations with major gateways throughout Asia, Europe and North America and directed high volume, complex hub operations with as many as 4,200 employees. He also engineered and built facilities that could handle in excess of 2 million pounds of cargo per hour and designed fully functional scanning systems which performed in the mid 90s.

Since joining the Delta Team Tim has focused his energy on two primary areas; more timely movement of freight and more accurate shipment information. To become a world leader on the information side Tim is introducing bar code scanning, an invigorated and refreshed IT system, focused training of all customer facing personnel, and an audit process to confirm change is taking hold. Robust measurement systems have been introduced on the transport side to allow management a quick view into what is or is not working with the tools to adjust quickly. In the end the focus going forward is on information, transportation and accountability.
