David M. (Dave) Paule is the General Manager of Marketing, Customer Service, and eCommerce for the Delta Cargo division of Delta Air Lines, Inc. He has oversight for the performance of all commercial and e-commerce activities and strategies, including Delta's worldwide relationships with other airlines; the development and performance of all freight products and services; and critical customer sales and service functions, including worldwide call centers and claims. In this position, he has successfully restructured much of Delta's distribution program, and is leading the product development activities for Delta's merger with Northwest Air Lines. He has also been responsible for the successful advertising and marketing activities for SkyTeam Cargo.
Dave joined Delta in January, 1989 as an Aircraft Performance Engineer, responsible for the design and development of flight planning and dispatch software, and has been promoted to progressively more responsible positions since 1993. His career has been focused on process improvements and he has a successful track record for business turnarounds and building green-field organizations. Before joining the cargo division, he held several strategic positions on the passenger side of the company, including serving as Program Director-Food Merchandising, where he successfully built Delta's $20 Million onboard sales programs and lead them to profitability. He has also held strategic restructuring positions in Delta's marketing, finance, supply-chain, and flight operations divisions.
In addition to serving as a Delta General Manager, he was also Vice President of Operations for DeltaTel, Inc., Delta's telecommunications subsidiary; and Chairman of the Board of Directors for DSS WorldSourcing, AG, a joint venture, worldwide supply chain management consortium owned by Delta, Swissair, and Singapore Airlines.
Outside of Delta, he is a member of the faculty of the Managerial Sciences department at the Georgia State University Robinson College of Business, where he teaches management and business strategy courses at the undergraduate level. He also serves on the boards of directors of SkyTeam Cargo U.S. Joint Venture, LLC, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, and CHRIS Kids, Inc. He is the author of the novel The Monarch of Key West.
Prior to joining Delta, Dave held positions, in the software industry, as a wind tunnel research engineer for NASA, a newspaper entertainment critic, a radio disk jockey, and a television producer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from Georgia State University. In his spare time, he restores houses, writes, and performs as a professional comedian. He lives in Atlanta.
