Ray Curtis, Managing Director-Global Sales, is responsible for overseeing nearly $1 Billion in sales and revenue performance for Delta Cargo. He leads an organization of nearly 100 Delta people worldwide, plus over 60 General Sales and Service Agents.
Ray joined Delta in January, 2008. Over the course of the last three years, he has led the restructuring of Delta's Strategic Partner program, which ensures that Delta's best cargo customers enjoy a relationship that recognizes their needs and rewards their loyalty. He has played a key role in leading the division to significantly improved revenue performance by implementing better selling and accountability measures, and he is widely recognized in the industry as an expert in B-to-B relationship selling models. Additionally, he completely restructured Delta Cargo's sales organization and methodology. The new Cargo sales model leverages Delta's excellent customer service core competencies, but places better focus on account segmentation. Customers worldwide have recognized his team as providing excellent support that is commensurate with account value.
In 2009, Ray led the integration of Northwest Cargo sales into Delta Cargo. The Cargo division was the first operational division of the two companies to merge. Not only was Cargo Sales the first department to integrate, but the integration was accomplished less than ninety days after the acquisition of Northwest and was done in a manner that was seamless for the customers and offered immediate access to the combined networks of the two companies.
Prior to joining Delta, Ray was Director of Strategic Accounts North America Sales at United Airlines cargo division where he served for over 13 years. During his tenure as the Director of Strategic Accounts, Ray played a leading role in reengineering the program to service United's 14 largest global accounts. This resulted in a doubling of revenues to more than $300 million on an annual basis. Customers have consistently recognized this program as industry leading and the revenue performance spoke for itself. He was also responsible for the complete restructuring of Cargo organization in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy.
Prior to joining United, Ray worked at Northwest Airlines in their Cargo Division for 10 years. As Regional Sales Manager-Northeast, Ray successfully launched Northwest's first-ever transpacific freighter service to China from Boston's Logan Airport.
Ray holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from St. John's University and is married with three children. He lives in Atlanta.
