Home is where the heart is. That's why the work we are doing with our partners at Habitat for Humanity matters so much.
Delta employees across the system join former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, his wife, Rosalynn, thousands of volunteers from around the world and partner families to support Habitat for Humanity’s 25th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in the Gulf Coast, to bring attention to the region still struggling to recover from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The five-day event from , May 11-16, 2008 will serve to construct and rehabilitate 60 houses and frame up to 48 more in the host cities of Biloxi, Gulfport and Pascagoula, Miss. Additionally, Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Alabama will build more than 250 houses by the end of the year as part of the overall project.
In addition to supporting the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, Delta
has worked to make simple, decent housing possible by building alongside
employees, customers, and homeowners in India, South Africa, and Ghana.
We are proud to sponsor Habitat for Humanity International and support communities
Delta serves worldwide.
Through Delta's ongoing efforts to serve communities and preserve resources, Delta will be building three homes in the Atlanta area fully funded from our onboard recycling program.
When
you're on
your next flight, be sure to recycle your cans, newspapers, and
plastic with you flight attendants.
Together we’re making a difference in communities and the environment
worldwide.
