All individuals interested in becoming a Delta Flight Attendant must first qualify by being accepted to and completing the Delta Air Lines Initial Flight Attendant Training Course. In addition, people interested in pursuing a Flight Attendant career must have excellent customer service skills, be at least 20 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and be willing to relocate.

If you are selected as a trainee to participate in the Initial Flight Attendant Training Course, you will undergo five weeks of tuition-free training at Delta's Training Center in Atlanta. Students who successfully complete the training course will receive a training expense reimbursement of $500 for expenses incurred during the five week training period. Some meals will be provided. Classes and training flights may be conducted seven days a week. The training is intensive and covers areas such as government rules and regulations, emergency procedures, customer service, and Delta's policies and guidelines. Tests are given frequently and students must maintain an average of 90% in order to continue in the training program.

Training course students are not considered employment applicants for flight attendant positions until such time as they have successfully completed training and are invited to apply for employment when flight attendant positions become available. Successful completion of the course does not guarantee employment or an invitation to apply for employment.

Delta flight attendants are currently based in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, New York, Orlando and Salt Lake City. If you are employed by Delta, you must be willing to relocate to any one of Delta's bases in accordance with Delta's operational needs. New flight attendants are on reserve for a period following their employment and are on call on a 24-hour basis to report for duty with little notice.
